Born in Hull in 1969, I trained originally as an Architectural Draughtsman in a Local Authority architects office, where I produced working drawings for building projects throughout the East Riding of Yorkshire. However, as an artist I'm self taught and happiest depicting Northern landscapes and seascapes in watercolour, gouache, and acrylics.
I draw inspiration from the skills of the early watercolourists such as Thomas Girtin and John Varley, and I'm a keen admirer of the works of Edward Hopper and Tamara De Lempicka.
