Willow

Willow

Acrylic on box-framed stretched canvas. a close friend once likened me to a willow in that i could withstand any storms that life threw my way and this was the inspiration for this painting. this piece has a decidedly lonely yet hauntingly beautiful ethereal feel to it. the half-woman, half-willow stands thigh-deep in the water, her back turned to the viewer, almost as if she wants to be left alone to brood and be melancholy.she seems to be looking out across the water in search of someone she lost a long time ago.

Poison - (organica #4)

Large framed acrylic on board. part of my popular 'organica' series painted in south africa. a single drop of poison hangs suspended from the life giving snake like plant growing in the shadowy surreal glade. strongly symbolic of the rebirth theme that this series was known for.

April in Lyde

April In Lyde

We were lucky enough to have this view from our rented house in lyde, herefordshire for almost two years. the softly undulating fields of oilseed rape neatly hemmed in by hedgerows have a peaceful effect on the soul after a long day. media-textured acrylic on stretched canvas on a box frame.

Michelle Layton

MLayton67@aol.com

Born in Africa, influenced by the vibrant colours and textures of the continent, losing myself from an early age in art, escaping...my work features a wealth of symbolism, interspersed with sensuous shapes and forms, rich colours, varied textures and a strong link with nature and organic influences. my paintings depict the emotions we all try so hard to suppress or express-art does not lie nor does it hide. It is my escape outward...and my escape inward. Enjoy
