This work in acrylic and mixed media is my interpretation of a dark scottish faery or spirit
The Ghillie Dhu are guardian tree spirits or faeries
who disguise themselves with foliage and dislike human beings.
They are most active at night and prefer birch trees
to all others, guarding them jealously from humans.
People travelling through enchanted woods must be careful not
to be grabbed by the long, branch like arms of the Ghillie Dhu
because they will be enslaved by this faery forever.
These faeries once heavily populated the forests of Scotland
But are rarely seen anymore
