Jonathan in the press:
"Vivid canvases ... Evanescent natural forms play with, and off,
interpretations of space and light, and celebrate the physical
substance of paint itself"
The Art Newspaper
"Jonathan Barnes' work offers a fresh approach
to the traditional artistic motivations of colour equilibrium, light,
speed and presence. He has a fascination with the very substance of oil
paint and its role in the era of digital technology. Driven by an
interest in natural luminosity, he has made extended trips to places
with spectacular light conditions, including the American South West,
the Far East and most recently, to the Sierra Nevada region of southern
Spain."
