About this Artwork

This painting is about revolution.

The figure stands strong and symbolic, inspired by the propaganda of Soviet posters and the Russian Revolution of 1917.

The figure acts as a mascot for revolution, projecting a defiant message.  But his white skin and blank eyes are lifeless, and his stance static, and the television in his hands is a tool of manipulation.

I wanted to use strong colours, and the shock of red against white, whilst at first glance creates a bold statement, also harbours eerie undertones in its contrast of calm against violence.
