I Look To You For Reason

I look to you for reason

About this Artwork

Oil on canvas

My latest work is my interpretation of the continual tension in society over what is percieved to be morally right or wrong. The child holding out the 3 stripes is the most significant element within the painting (but I'm not going to tell you what it is). The figure in the middle cautiously reaches out to take the 3 stripes whilst the clown reaches back to try to prevent the figures transition. The clown represents the sometimes overpowering urge to race through life blindly, without a second thought for consequences. The influence of this work is drawn from you, me and everyone. The interaction of colours used in this painting causes the viewer to see the negative image of the painting when the eyes move from painting to a white surface. This reversal of colours on the trace image allows the viewer to experience the true nature of the painting; the true nature is a mere thought.
