In the Bin - Snow on a hill

In The Bin - Snow On A Hill

Acrylic on canvas approx 40cmx40cm

It was all going so well up until this point, I finished late at night, cleaned the brushes, took the photo - came back to it another day and completely ruined the foreground trying to do it in an abstract style with a pallet knife - ended up in the bin.

On the easel - Mahon Harbour

On The Easel - Mahon Harbour

Acrylic on box canvas 50cmx50cm

It takes ages to paint buildings, so much detail that needs to be accurate, you can slap blobs and knife strokes on landscapes but you don't get away so easy with buildings - this one is the famous staircase from Mahon harbour in Menorca up to the town centre, a favourite place, I met the King of Spain (John Charles) right here on this dockside the last time I was there.OK, so I saw his boat and he wasn't home.

On the easel - the lake house

On The Easel - The Lake House

Acrylic on box canvas, 50cmx50cm

This one is finished but not finished, it still needs painting around the box edges and I'm just not sure about all of the bare canvas on this one, it adds the sparkle to the water but I just don't know, seems like cheating somehow if its not painted, hmmm...

Gary Kitchen

I paint, have always painted since I was a child, I paint or draw during most of my spare time and now sell some online.

Watercolour is a favourite but constantly evades my capabilities, pastel and acrylic are much more forgiving. The landscape of the Yorkshire Dales and Coastline are constant subjects being within easy reach of my home and constantly provide stunning topics.
