Inspiration for this piece came from an early childhood memory. My 5, or 6, or 7 birthday party. My mother and grandmother and I had baked a double-decker chocolate cake in preparation for my neighborhood party and I couldnt' wait for a piece when my friends arrived, so I dug my hands into it--hence, the fork madness.
