Auricula Theatre
I love auriculas for their chic colour combinations. the victorians had the idea of "auricula theatres" to display their prized plants, although i suspect that the people who had the idea were not the ones to do the work! anyway, auriculas are certainly theatrical, and this painting was inspired by a trip to calke abbey where a theatre might be seen in springtime. this is in a dark green wood frame.

Flag Iris
Glorious flag iris in fantastic colour. a small pond is my latest garden project, and these iris are a must! bold colour, lovely markings and lush green leaves- what a combination! this is created in mixed media , with watercolour and pencils combined. this picture is mounted in a neutral mount, which is sized to fit an easily obtained ready made frame ( eg from ikea or habitat)

Auricula
I love auriculas,- they are so prim & come in absolutely wonderful colours and combinations. i grow some of them and this one is a descendant of one i grew from seed about 25 years ago - i keep dividing & planting the young growth. stunning colours on a bold painting in oils with a lot of knife painting to give depth. painted on a stretched canvas.
