Beach Raft
Memory drawing - i draw these pictures as i recall a pose or group of figures that i've seen many times. i start with one line, adding more until i feel the picture represents my memory of the event. sometimes i use different colour lines while thinking about each different aspect of the figure. these drawings have an "open" feel - open to interpreattion, dynamic, evocative. photo print on hahnemuhle paper. £120 at this size.

Fire Mural
Commission from martin primary school. i was approached to design murals for the four ww2 bomb shelters outside the school entrance. they were suffering from repeated graffiti. i decided to use the theme of "four elements" since an old term for "primary school" was "elementary school". initially from drawings then "inking in" with flat colour and limited pallette on pc. i did an abstract expression for earth, air, fire and water, to the same proportions as the walls. scaling these up (after prepping the walls - stabiliser and masonry undercoat), a local paint merchant match-mixed masonry paints. took about a week each picture in all, with help from a volunteer team of parents.
